March16, 2016, Yangon – Telenor Myanmar Limited (“Telenor”) today announced that it will hold its second public special numbers auction in Mandalay, enabling customers to bid for 100 special numbers. Profits gained from this auction will be donated to build a new monastic school building and digital education center in Myat Lay Yone Monastic School in Kwan Chan Gone Township, Yangon Division.
These numbers – with the prefix (0)977 and (0)979 – offers special numbers in popular variations like (0)979 9999999, (0)977 7777770, (0)979 9000000, and others with similar numerical patterns. Reserve bidding prices begin at MMK 3 million for all numbers. The process will be assured by law firm MN Associates and observed by audit firm Deloitte Touche Myanmar, Vigour Advisory Ltd.
The auction will take place at the Sedona Hotel in Mandalay on Friday, 25th March, 2016. Interested bidders may register by sending a request with their name, mailing address, email address, NRC or company details, and bank account details to email@example.com or by calling (0)979 7000097, up to March 21st , 2016. Due to seats limitation, Telenor will select and confirm successful participants before the auction event. The company will also hold future auctions in other states and divisions of Myanmar, for which dates and times will be announced in the future.

About Myat Lay Yone Monastic School
Myat Lay Yone Monastic School is situated in Myat Lay Yone Part, Taw Khayan (West) Village under Kwan Chan Gone Township, Yangon Division. The school currently serves 140 students, and is registered under the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The school initially started as a summer reading session in 2011 and gradually developed as a post primary school as of today. Beginning 2016, the school will extend until Grade 8, but has no capacity to accommodate a large number of students without walls and protection from the weather.
“With the donations from the auction, we intend to fund the construction of a new school building, including a well maintained digital literacy centre to improve facilities and raise the quality of education for village children in the area. We will also explore collaborations with our existing CR programmes in digital literacy and digital education to further extend the reach and effectiveness of the donation,” said Min Thu, Head of CR at Telenor Myanmar.
