Customers urged to register SIMs to continue enjoying mobile services

– Telenor Myanmar Limited (“Telenor”) has announced that mobile services will be temporarily suspended
for three months for SIMs that were not registered by the government-set deadline of 31st March, 2017.
During this suspension period customers with unregistered SIMs will not be able to enjoy regular use of mobile services
apart from receiving calls and SMS, and gaining access to Telenor’s SIM registration website
http://ecaf.telenor.com.mm and My Telenor App
Customers may use these channels to then register their SIMs, at no data charges.
Affected customers will be able to resume regular mobile services within one hourof submitting all required documents for registration.
Customers may also register their unregistered SIMs via Telenor Myanmar’s Facebook messenger

more than 42,000 designated retail shops; 90 Telenor branded shops, and Telenor Lighthouses’ training in 52 townships to register.
All remaining unregistered SIMs on 30th June, 2017 will be permanently terminated.
“We strongly encourage customers who have not registered their SIMs to do so as soon as possible to
continue enjoying regular mobile services, as all unregistered SIMs will be permanently unusable after
the suspension period is over. We hope all customers will take this opportunity to continue fully enjoying
available benefits by registering their SIMs, including gaining protecting in the event of loss or other
service-related issues,” said Joslin E Myrthong, Chief Marketing Officer at Telenor Myanmar.
Registration required to regularise mobile services
To register, customers are simply required to send their phone numbers together with clear front
and back photocopies of valid identification documents (eg: National Registration Card). SIM cards to be registered
should be active for accepting verification codes.
SIM registration is a requirement mandated by law and failure to register their SIM card is considered to be
non-compliant with government regulations. In 2016, the Posts and Telecommunications Department of the Ministry of Transport
and Communications had directed mobile operators to register their SIM cards for all customers by 31stMarch, 2017.
All unregistered SIMs will be permanently unusable at the end of the 3-month suspension period.
